Admission Process
The Online Application Form & Information Brochure will be available on the website from mid of November 2012 to mid of January 2013.
The entire process of application will take place online. Applicants are required to fill and submit the online application form before the last date. Along with the online application the applicants need to submit the documents mentioned below by uploading them in the prescribed format.
- A statement of purpose (.pdf or.doc format) Guidelines for SOP
- Two reference letter which should contain comments upon applicants' suitability for the programme and their capacity for combining part-time study with work related duties (.doc format)
- Scanned copied of transcripts and certificates of University Diplomas (.pdf format)
- Scanned copy of transcripts of qualifying examination certificates in English, or translated, if it is in any other language (.pdf format)
- Scanned copy of a passport-size photograph 2 x 2".(.jpg format)
A selection committee comprising of members from TISS and IFRC will select up to 30 qualified participants to attend this course in the first cohort based on merit and relevance. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or the overseas equivalent, although each application is judged on its own merits and exceptions to this entry requirement may be made.
- Applicants must check emails sent to the email address provided in the application for all important communications and announcements.
- Applicants are advised to check the Institute website www.tiss.edu or ifrc.tiss.edu for final selection results/ important announcements.
Guidelines for Statement of Purpose (SOP)
Your statement of purpose should focus on the reasons you are interested in attending the certificate programme. Minimum 500 words.
Primary topics to cover in your statement of purpose:
- Why are you interested in disaster management/humanitarian field?
- Why do you want to pursue the certificate course?
- What are your research interests?
- Explain what attracts you most to the institution/program while applying.
- Examples of personal attributes or qualities that would help you complete the certificate programme successfully.
- Your initiative and ability to develop ideas, your ability to work independently, and your determination to achieve your goals.
